Protests against police brutality and social justice aren’t just happening in the United States, citizens in both Hong Kong and Nigeria have been protesting in their respective countries.

#EndSARSNow has been trending since Friday, after Nigerian citizens took to social media to share videos of the police using tear gas and cannons on protestors marching against SARS and police brutality.

SARS or Special Anti-Robbery Squad is a special Nigeran police unit accused of kidnapping, harassment, and extortion.

After mounting pressure from Nigerian citizens amid protests, the Nigerian government has chosen to disband SARS. The announcement was made in a statement by Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police.

Statement from police spokesman Frank Mba:

IGP M.A Adamu ... has today, 11th October 2020, dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) across the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)...

Despite the group being disbanded, protests intend to continue marching against police brutality.

The NFL is still struggling to contain COVID-19 coming into Week 5 of the season.

The New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans have both closed their practice facilities after reporting positive tests during their last round of testing.

Following the report, Monday’s game between the Broncos and Patriots has been postponed. Despite 24 positive tests, the Titans are still set to play the Bills on Tuesday.
