Self-care is not just about the mind.
Real self-care is taking care of the mind, body, and spirit.
I always stress the importance of intentionally feeding your mind positive things, thoughts, and ideas. We subconsciously feed our minds so many things throughout the day not realizing the impact it has on us. While you’re being intentional with what you feed your mind, don’t forget to feed your spirit.
Take care of your spiritual mind.
Like self-care everyone’s relationship with spirituality is different. In my life, religion is what guides my spiritual journey. Every morning as part of my morning routine, I connect with my spiritual side. My morning routine includes devotions, which is usually watching an online sermon or reading a verse/chapter from the Bible.
Verse of the Day
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11✨
To me, spirituality has little to do with a specific religion.
Spirituality is an individual experience of learning and connecting with yourself to find inner peace and purpose.
Being Spiritually Healthy
There are many benefits to being spiritually healthy, both mentally and physically depending on how it’s interpreted and practiced.
Decreased risk of disease
High blood pressure, heart attacks, and heart disease are common health problems for millions of people. Stress is a known contributor to all of them. Incorporating spirituality into your life could be a simple but effective way to ease stress and decrease your risk of life-threatening diseases.
The basis of spirituality is finding inner your inner peace and purpose. Throughout the spiritual journey of discovering the inner self, self-love, and self -awareness grows.
How you incorporate spirituality into your life is up to you.
There is no right or wrong way to being spiritual, this is a personal journey.
Discover your spiritual self
Who are you? What’s your purpose? What does peace mean to you? These are the perfect questions to ask yourself when starting your spiritual journey. This entire journey is about discovering yourself, you must ask yourself the tough questions.
Meditation is a perfect way to discover yourself. Meditation forces you to take the time to really sit with your thoughts. For some, this may be hard. Don’t let your mind drift. Concentrate on your breathing. If you're new to meditation start with small time intervals. Increase as your meditations progress.
Yoga is great for the mind and body. It not only relaxes the mind and relieves stress but it is also known to increase strength and flexibility.
