Mother's Day is a celebratory time for some & a day of remembrance for others..

Happy Mother’s Day.

The way life has been the past couple months, a day of celebration is exactly what the world needs to distract us from current world events and crises.

I’m spending today with my mommy, celebrating her and all she’s done for me for the past 20 1/2 years. My mother is the epitome of a hard worker, go-getter, survivor and warrior . She is simply amazing to put it lightly.

I wouldn’t be half of the person I am today if it wasn't for the confidence, independence, wisdom & bravery she instilled in me. For me, today is centered around celebrating her & letting her know how much she’s appreciated.

While today is a day of celebration and a good distraction for me, it dawned on me that today is the complete opposite for others. Mother’s Day is a hard day for some.

I want to dedicate this to anyone who has lost a mother, grandmother, aunt or any beloved family member making this day hard every year..

Sending prayers to those who’ve lost a family member recently because of COVID-19 making this holiday even more difficult for you.

It’s easy to forget that this is not a joyous time for everyone.

For some today is a trigger, it brings up unwanted old memories or flashbacks.

For others, today is a day of mourning and remembrance, forcing them to recall what they lost or what they never had.

I’m a spiritual being. I get most of my guidance, peace, understanding and wisdom from my creator and my spiritual healer, God.

Whether you’re spiritual, religious, Christian or not, I want to leave you with a couple bible verses and some words of encouragement.

Bible Verses

Colossians 3:2

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Philippians 4:7-8

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Psalms 16:8

For I have set the Lord always before me, because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Psalms 55:22

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Reach out to your folks.

Call that person who you know is taking today hard.

Invite them to hang out. They are probably spending the day alone or in the house.

Spread love. Stay Safe. Mask Up.
