As you dive deep into HeavieTalk posts I want you to have an idea of the person behind the pen. Throughout this journey you will learn about my passions, goals, ideas and weaknesses, but you will also discover my fun, goofy adventurous side. These 7 questions & answers are a great start at painting a picture of who I am.
1: Who is my best friend?
My Mommy. Close would be an understatement in describing the relationship between my mother & I. I was lucky enough to be blessed with not only a phenomenal mother, but a two in one combo, a great best-friend as well. She is the person I tell any and everything to. The person I call for minor inconveniences like when I stub my toe. For normal woman advice, when I get my heartbroken by the guy she declared “no good” from the start. For Spiritual guidance when I’m at a crossroads. OR For Business advice when I’m not sure how to achieve the mission in my head. She is the one I rely on for it all.
2. What is my favorite number?
#7. It represents my faith. My Faith is where I derive all of my purpose, direction and wisdom from.
Genesis 2:2-3 says “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work creating he had done.
3. What do I like to do in my free time?
In my free time I enjoy going to the park for a run or to read a good book depending on the weather. If (I’m in my homebody mood, which I usually am, I spend my time doing puzzles, starting a new coloring page or binge watching my favorite shows.
4. What is my favorite tv show?
My favorite show currently is Madam Secretary. I love shows that involve law enforcement or government conspiracies. One of my unattainable dreams is to work for the government as a FBI Agent, government analyst, something of the sort.
5. Would I rather live in a big city or on a farm?
I want to live on a farm. I have always fantasized the idea of living on acres of land, farming animals, growing healthy and yummy fruits and vegetables.
6. Am I neat or messy?
It depends on my mood. You can easily determine my mood or mental state by looking at my room. If my room is messy, so is my mind.
7. What is my favorite book?
My favorite book is Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin. This was the first book I started with when I decided I wanted to study and research deep into early black history, oppression and excellence. This classic book published in 1961, illustrated white journalist, John Howard Griffin’s experience in the deep south using blackface to learn more about racism and the struggle of a black man. His writing began during the Jim Crow era, so racial segregation and discrimination was active and fluid. Many white people during this time refused to accept that black people were being discriminated against & mistreated, which caused John Howard Griffin to come up with the idea. After hearing from others, particularly his own kind, that racism was not real; he decided to assume both a black and white appearance to see how he would be treated. As a result of his experience, transforming from a white man to black man, he dealt with racism and mistreatment. He shocked he was treated differently as a black man, at the same places he went to as a white man and was treated respectfully.
Highly recommend reading it.
